1. Summary
- Pingora does not require an account to use.
- Your content, progress, history, and settings are stored locally on your device, not on our servers.
- We use Google AdMob to show advertisements, which involves limited data collection by Google and its advertising partners.
- We use Google Firebase services (Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, Cloud Messaging and Remote Config) to understand general app usage, detect crashes and slowdowns, send notifications, and adjust app settings without an update.
- The microphone is used only for speaking exercises. Your voice is processed by your device's speech recognition service and is never recorded, stored, or sent to us.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Future versions may add optional accounts, cloud sync, and in-app purchases. This policy will be updated before those features launch.
2. Who We Are
The data controller responsible for the App is:
MTD Technology Company Limited (brand: Tarunow)
Address: L18-11-13, Floor 18, Vincom Center Dong Khoi Building, No. 72 Le Thanh Ton, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Email: admin@tarunow.com
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information stored only on your device
The following is created as you use Pingora and remains on your device. We do not have access to it:
- Content and items you create or save in the App
- Your in-app progress, history, and activity records
- Goals and reminder settings
- App preferences (such as language and interface settings)
3.2 Information collected automatically by third-party SDKs
To run advertising, analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, notifications, and remote configuration, the following may be collected:
- Advertising identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID), used by Google AdMob and its advertising partners to deliver and measure ads.
- Device and technical information, such as device model, operating system version, language, general (coarse) location inferred from IP address, app version, and similar diagnostic data.
- Usage events, such as which screens or features are opened, session length, and similar aggregated analytics signals.
- Crash and diagnostic data, such as crash logs, stack traces, and device state at the time of a crash.
- Performance data, such as app start-up time, screen rendering, and network request timing.
- App instance identifiers, such as the Firebase installation ID and a messaging token, used to deliver notifications to your device and to apply app configuration.
We do not use this data to identify you personally, and the content you create in the App is not transmitted to us.
3.3 Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts (no account is required).
- We do not access your photos or camera.
- We do not record, store, or upload your voice (see section 3.4).
- We do not track your precise GPS location.
3.4 Microphone and speech recognition
Some lessons include speaking exercises. Only when you start one of these exercises, Pingora asks for permission to use your microphone. Your voice is passed to your device's built-in speech recognition service, which turns it into text so the App can check your answer. Pingora asks the service to process speech on your device whenever possible.
- Pingora does not record, save, or upload audio, and your voice is never sent to our servers or to our analytics or crash reporting providers.
- Only the recognized text is used, on your device, to score your answer. It is not stored or transmitted.
- Your device's speech recognition service is provided by your device maker or by Google, and its own privacy terms apply to it.
- You can deny or revoke microphone permission at any time. Speaking questions can be skipped, and the rest of the App keeps working.
4. Permissions
Pingora may request the following Android permissions:
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): only for speaking exercises, as described in section 3.4.
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to send you optional study reminders you choose to enable, and occasional notifications from us.
- Internet / network access: to load advertisements, send anonymous analytics, crash and performance data, receive notifications, and download app configuration.
You can disable notifications or revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings.
5. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide and maintain the App's core features (on your device).
- Display advertisements that support the free version of the App.
- Understand general, aggregated usage patterns so we can improve the App.
- Detect, diagnose, and fix crashes, slowdowns, and other technical problems.
- Send you study reminders and other notifications.
- Adjust app settings and test improvements without requiring an app update.
- Comply with legal obligations.
6. Advertising
Pingora uses Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob and its partners may use advertising identifiers and device data to show and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and other regulated regions, we will request your consent for personalized advertising through a consent prompt before such ads are shown, in accordance with applicable law.
- You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
You can learn how Google uses data from apps that use its services at: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
7. Analytics, Crash Reporting, Notifications, and Remote Configuration
We use the following Firebase services, provided by Google:
- Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated usage data, such as when a lesson is started or completed, so we understand which features are useful.
- Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash and diagnostic data so we can fix problems.
- Firebase Performance Monitoring to measure app start-up time, screen rendering, and network performance so we can make the App faster.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications to your device. It uses a messaging token that identifies the App installation, not you personally.
- Firebase Remote Config (including A/B Testing) to change app settings and try out improvements without requiring an app update.
For more information about Google's data practices, see: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
8. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With service providers (Google AdMob, Firebase) that process data on our behalf to provide advertising, analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, notifications, and remote configuration.
- When required by law, such as in response to a valid legal request.
- In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.
9. Data Retention
Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App removes the locally stored data from your device.
Data collected by AdMob and Firebase is retained according to Google's retention policies.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information.
10.1 European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR)
You may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. Because Pingora does not require an account and stores your data on your device, most of your data is under your direct control. For data processed by advertising and analytics partners, you may withdraw consent at any time through the in-app consent options or your device settings.
Our legal bases for processing are: your consent (for personalized advertising and analytics where required), and our legitimate interests (to provide, secure, and improve the App).
10.2 California (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell or share personal information as defined by California law for cross-context behavioral advertising without providing the choices required by law. California residents may have rights to know, delete, and opt out. You can exercise advertising choices through the in-app consent prompt and your device's advertising settings.
10.3 Other regions
Residents of other regions may have similar rights under local law. Contact us at admin@tarunow.com to make a request.
11. Children's Privacy
Pingora is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at admin@tarunow.com and we will take appropriate steps.
12. International Data Transfers
Our service providers (Google) may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, such transfers are governed by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where required by law, provide additional notice. Material changes — such as the introduction of accounts, cloud sync, or in-app purchases — will be reflected here before those features become available.
